Think
back to last winter in the UK ...... thick snow,
below zero temperatures. Climate change forecasts
point to the fact that these weather conditions
are likely to be the norm in future and possibly
to increase in intensity. To make matters worse
fuel bills continue to soar and many householders
are having to consider energy saving strategies.
Many energy saving strategies are costly but are
hugely beneficial in the long-term. Improvements
such as cavity wall and loft insulation and replacement
double-glazing windows and doors make definite inroads
into saving energy.
Other energy saving improvements in the home can
be considerably simpler and cheaper. Fitting vertical
blinds are one such improvement. They sit close
to the window and help to trap a layer of air between
window and blind;
ultimately slowing movement of cold air into the
room. Vertical
blinds also act as a barrier between the room
and window – creating an insulating layer
which slows the escape of warm air through the window.
