When
choosing vertical
blinds, remember that the choice among the various
slat options has a lot to do with the results you
will have, as well as how much you will experience
these advantages. If you choose aluminium slats,
you will have a wide range of colour options, and
these can be a great and easy to clean option. However,
aluminium can be damaged quite easily, and when
bent, these slats will stay bent and will never
return to their original shape or condition.
Vertical
blinds are good for your health too. By keeping
the rays of the sun at a minimum you will be prone
to fewer headaches and eye strains. Your rooms will
be a perfect place for study and reading. Vertical
blinds will also reduce the glare when watching
television, thus no longer will it be a challenge.
PVC, or plastic vertical
blinds, can offer what appears to be practical
and simple decor, however, this plastic does have
environmental and durability issues related to its
use. For PVC, there are issues with off gassing,
or releasing, of agents used in their production.
This is a general issue with PVC, in most products,
so if you do not have a problem with this in other
parts of your home, then there is no reason for
additional concern for it in your vertical
blinds. PVC also has issues related to possible
discolouration and brittleness that can be caused
by the sun and the strong ultraviolet rays from
the sun. However, quality PVC is usually resistant
to the problem.
