Should I Buy Blinds or Curtains?

It is interesting to note that many people do not relate their health condition with the type of window treatments that are to be used in a room. In fact some window coverings should be discounted immediately due to allergies and respiratory issues. A good example of this is where a person may have severe asthma and having wooden or plastic venetian blinds in the room. In general, blinds tend to be a magnet for dust collection, which would mean they would need to be cleaned very regularly. From experience cleaning blinds properly can be a time consuming task. On the other hand, curtain materials that are light and airy are much easier to keep free of dust mites and would provide a healthier option for the asthma/allergy sufferer.

Secondly, another factor in the decision to go with blinds or curtains has to be down to the purpose of the room. Bedrooms tend to benefit from the use of blinds. The reason for this is because they are very effective at blocking outside lighting sources. Conversely, a window over the kitchen sink may be an example of a window where curtains are preferable, since you want to have access to natural light most of the time.
